Is Your Storage Unit a Waste of Money?

Before you rent a storage unit ask yourself why it’s needed and for how long. Good reasons might be that you’re moving or renovating and need to buy some time before your home is ready. That makes a lot of sense. However, if you want a storage unit because you have too much stuff, consider downsizing on your belongings first and save your money!

Instead of loading up your car to transport your clutter to a storage unit, consider donating your unwanted items instead.

The Marie Kondo Kraze!

Thanks to Netflix hit series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, more and more people are excited to get organized. It’s been fun to see the professional organizer industry go from fringe to famous since Marie Kondo came on the scene and while she and I share many similarities, FOX8 invited me on to discuss what makes Clear the Clutter so unique. Spoiler alert, I don’t dump all your clothes into a massive heap then come back a week later to see how your doing lol, watch the clip and enjoy!

Traveling Light

I recently challenged myself to enjoy 9 beautiful days traveling in Greece with nothing more than carry on luggage. With 4 pair of shoes, 2 bathing suits and a weeks worth of clothing I had everything I needed! Here are a few tips and lessons learned that you can use on your own summer journeys. Have something to add? Include your advice in the comments below!

Greece.jpg
  • lay out your travel wardrobe, edit down to the essentials before packing
  • select clothing that is versatile and wrinkle resistant
  • wear your heavy items on the plane such as jeans and tennis shoes
  • shop light, keep souvenirs small in size and number
  • bring an extra travel duffle bag just in case

Safe and happy travels!

That's right! New Orleans is allowed 5 whole hours to recycle an entire years worth of collective waste. As much as I love this city it's no secret that we have a long way to before we clean up our recycling act. See the full list here.

Thanks for the Love Y'all! #Om@NOMA

I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with two very talented energy healers, Dr. Jess Tregle and Dr. Rick Laudry. If you're wondering what Clear the Clutter has to do with meditation and hypnotherapy here's the scoop, I'm also an energy worker! As a professional organizer I physically change your environment, shift the energy in your home and improve quality of life. If you've ever removed hundreds of lbs from your space then you know what I'm talking about, that feeling of lightness and relief is amazing.

Downsizing the Movie

Would you consider the ultimate form of downsizing?  "When scientists discover how to shrink humans to five inches tall as a solution to over-population, Paul (Matt Damon) and his wife Audrey (Kristen Wiig) decide to abandon their stressed lives in order to get small and move to a new downsized community — a choice that triggers life-changing adventures."

I know what movie I'll be seeing this Christmas!

What is Death Cleaning?

Just in time for Halloween! There's a new trend on the rise called Swedish Death Cleaning. While it may sound morbid it's simply "the process of cleaning house before you die, rather then leaving it up to your loved ones to do after you're gone." Sometimes a new perspective can change the relationship we have with our stuff for the better. Check out this article in Time Magazine for more on Death Cleaning.

Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things

I'm a big fan of documentaries. They give me inspiration and in watching Minimalism I was reassured that my personal less-is-more journey is still the path for me. Even if you'd never consider the minimalistic lifestyle there are certainly aspects that I feel would benefit even the greatest of skeptics. Certainly there is no one-right-way to live a happy life. How you choose to live your life is up to you but if unburdening yourself of clutter could improve the quality of your life, isn't it at least worth a try?

Stasia Returns to Happy Hour! New Orleans Favorite Radio Show

When you walk into a bar in New Orleans and you pull up a bar stool you never know who's going to be sitting on the other side of you. What you do know is no matter what they look like, what they're wearing, whether they just got out of a limousine or just got out of jail they're gonna be happy to talk to you. Cause that's New Orleans and this is Happy Hour! A 60 min cocktail fueled conversation with random people that have nothing in common.  http://bit.ly/2fTus00

Although America voted for President Trump, New Orleans went 80% for Hillary. Happy Hour assembled "3 of the most upbeat New Orleanians" they could convince to come have free drinks with Grant Morris at Happy Hour. If you're fretting about future of the world, consume this Happy Hour with a drink and you'll feel a lot better about the world, the country and yourself.

Cheers!

Ready for the Holidays?

Tis the season to be thankful but when too much stuff takes over your kitchen you'll be thankful just to see the counter top! Early November is the perfect time for a kitchen cleanse. There are plenty of people out there that would be grateful for your food donations. Bag up what you can for your local food band (many grocery stores have drop off stations), toss what's expired then take inventory of your pantry.

Want some help? Call (504) 920-1800 to schedule your Clear the Clutter holiday session today. A 3 hour weekend appointments are still available.
